Yum... what a delicious breakfast!

I love to start the day with protein, which keeps my blood sugar levels balanced for the day.  I have a great shake made with Syner Protein  and a scoop of TNT  which is packed full of fibre.  Both products are also full of many essential vitamins and minerals, so I know I’m starting my day with the best quality nutrition I can.

I like to use this breakfast option as a quick and simple to prepare drink.  If I am meeting a Client early and just need something to keep me going for a few hours this is a great gap filler.

Unfortunately many quick fix breakfast snacks/bars are packed full of sugar.  These leave you feeling unsatisfied and craving more, filling your body with empty calories and gaining weight.

The nutritious shake I use, tastes great and is packed full of energy which gives me a great boost for the day ahead.

Give it a try... I would be pleased to hear your results!

GREAT WAY TO START THE DAY!

Good Morning All,

What a great way to start the day...

I've just done a 30 minute workout using my trampette and free weights :)  I put on some fun lively music (I love a bit of 80's cheese!) which automatically makes me feel good!

I started jumping on the trampette combining a variety of aerobic moves; knees up, leg curls, kicks, side leg lifts, star jumps, spotty dogs.  I then grabbed the weights and added in some arm moves; bicep curls, tricep extensions, frontal & lateral raise, shoulder press, pec decs and reverse flyes!

I moved on to some core exercises on my mat; crunches, obliques, lower ab & lower back exercises.

Finally finishing with some gentle aerobic moves back on my trampette, then stretches!

Wow!  What a fun, simple, quick but full body exercise routine!  I feel great and motivated ready to start the day :)

INCREASE YOUR WATER INTAKE

Drink 2.5 litres of water per day and see improvements to your energy levels, concentration, eating habits, skin and body temperature control.  When you are exercising you need to increase this amount, to replace fluid lost through sweat.

Water transports nutrients, oxygen, vitamins and minerals to where they are needed, and waste products to the excretory organs.

Many foods and drinks deplete the amount of water in your body.  Water is vital for everyday well being and functioning. Dehydration lowers metabolism by 2-3%, can cause headaches and inefficient kidney function.

By the time you feel thirsty you will already have become dehydrated.

Go and drink a glass of water NOW!

Vitamin D = ESSENTIAL

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin best known for its roles in preventing rickets and maintaining proper levels of calcium in the blood. The 'Sunshine Vitamin' is generally acquired by the body in two ways - exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays and dietary intake.

Vitamin D supplementation helps to prevent Vitamin D deficiency which is important as the vitamin is a factor in the maintenance of good health

Furthermore Vitamin D helps in the
• development and maintenance of bones.
• development and maintenance of teeth.
• absorption and use of calcium and phosphorus.

It has generally been thought that if you get enough time in the sun and eat a diet with foods like Vitamin D fortified milk, deficiency will not be a problem. However, many factors come into play when it comes to your body receiving UV exposure to the sun and processing that into vitamin D in the body.

Things like time spent in the sun, age, genetics, use of UV-blocking sunscreens, and even where you live can all have an effect.

Maintenance of Good Health
Vitamin D is an important factor in the maintenance of good health. Furthermore Vitamin D helps in the
development and maintenance of bones and teeth, and the absorption and use of calcium and phosphorus.

Anti-Ageing
Anti-Ageing Researchers theorise that inflammation and oxidative stress play roles in the ageing process, and that Vitamin D decreases the levels of compounds that may cause inflammation in the body.
Findings from a study published in 2007 suggest that Vitamin D may play a part in slowing the ageing process and the onset of age-related diseases. They concluded that:

“The results demonstrate for the first time that people who have higher levels of Vitamin D may age
more slowly than people with lower levels of Vitamin D...”

USE MULTIPLE MUSCLE GROUPS DURING YOUR WORKOUT

Compound exercises involve two or more muscles during one exercise.  For example; lunge with shoulder press, squat with bicep curl, etc.

Muscles burn energy, so the more muscle mass you have the higher your metabolic rate.  This leads to more energy burnt and improved body shape.

EAT PROTEIN FIRST… FOR BREAKFAST!

The name ‘Protein’ was derived in the 19th century from the Greek word ‘proteios’, meaning ‘primary importance’.

Hydrochloric acid which breaks down protein is released in the morning, therefore eating it at this time helps its ability to be utilised by the body.

Eating protein for breakfast will reduce cravings, aid concentration and stabilise blood sugar and energy levels, therefore making better choices for the rest of the day.

Protein is important for;

- Growth, maintenance and repair of body tissue and is part of every living cell (skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, hair, nails, bones and teeth)

- Digestion and extraction of energy from food

- Controlling blood glucose (sugar) levels

- Energy production

Whey protein drinks – Whey comes from milk which goes through pasteurisation.  This denatures and damages it, depleting protein.
